One of the interesting things that has been there throughout history is that they have been heroes and these are people that have played a significant part in transforming the lives of other people. A number of the people were able to transform the world through business while others through politics and leadership but in addition, there are others who are human rights activists. One of the biggest civil rights activists in the world that was able to create history was known as James Meredith and he was an African-American. According to sources, this was the first African-American that was able to attend the University of Mississippi. James Meredith was born in the year 1933 and he was raised together with other siblings actually, nine of them on a farm. James Meredith was able to attend a military high school after he was able to grow up. After high school, James Meredith was able to attend an all black college and it is after this that he was able to become the first student in the University of Mississippi. James Meredith was able to get a degree in law but apart from that, he went on to get involved heavily with politics.

For civil rights activities have been his main thing and this is the something that he continues with up to today in Jackson, Mississippi. During his childhood, James very was one of the few black or African Americans that was insulated from racism that was there in the United States at the time. Being insulated from the racism, James Meredith did not know anything about this but while coming from Chicago on a train with his brother one day, he encountered the first encounter. The incident involved him being told to move to the back of the train when they reached Memphis Tennessee. There were many other black people that were at the back of the train and because of that, they had to stand all through up to the destination. The fair treatment of the African-Americans became his priority because of this incident and this considered to be the life-changing experience.

When the registrar realized that James Meredith was an African-American, his admission into the University of Mississippi was revoked and this is one of the biggest challenges. The Supreme Court at that time ruled in favor of James Meredith when he states proceeded to the highest court although, the state courts had ruled against them. The political activity of James Meredith has been very consistent all throughout the years.
