Jim Carrey Shares a Crucifixion Drawing for Good Friday

Jim Carrey is apparently taking a break from his eye-catching depictions of various Trump administration players in favor of a different subject.
“The Mask” star Carrey, who recently has gained attention for his renditions of Trump, Sarah Huckabee Sanders and others, unveiled another work on Friday, sharing a crucifixion drawing with his fans, along with an inspirational message.
“The story of Jesus is a perfect example of the journey toward salvation through honesty and courage in the face of suffering, the surrender of the ego (thy will not my will), and forgiveness,” Carrey wrote.
The actor/artist concluded, “How will you bear your cross? Happy Good Friday! ;^)”
The drawing was signed “JC” in the lower right-hand corner, so presumably it is Carrey’s work — unless the initials are in reference to another JC.
Recently Carrey has gained as much attention for his artistic efforts as his acting career, though his subject matter has tended to lean more toward politics than religion.
Last Friday, Carrey offered a piece that seemed to reference reports that Donald Trump had relationships with porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal. The work depicted a Trumpian figure in bed with a decidedly un-Melania-like woman, her legs splayed and her fingernails digging scratch-marks into his back as he makes something approaching love to her.
Carrey captioned his work “Fifty Shades of Decay,” a seeming play on the BDSM-tinged novel “Fifty Shades of Grey” and the film of the same title.

Jim Carrey has made his disdain for the current state of politics an artform… literally. The Oscar-nominated comedian-turned-actor’s series of drawings depict all that he believes to be wrong in D.C., from the Speaker of the House Paul Ryan to guns in schools to the GOP in general. Here are just a few of his works of art this year.
